New Asian Exhibitors at InterTabac/InterSupply 2017

Already considered the world’s largest trade fair for tobacco products and smoking accessories, this year’s InterTabac exhibition taking place September 22-24 at Messe Westfalenhallen, Dortmund, Germany, promises to be even grander with the addition of three new halls, providing visitors and exhibitors a total of nine halls in which to meet, network, and conduct business.

This year InterTabac will have over 500 exhibitors, about 80 of which are new. The largest groups of new exhibitors are from China, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, and the US. New guests from Armenia, Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, the Dominican Republic, France, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Italy, Jordan, Croatia, Mexico, the Netherlands, Pakistan, Poland, Romania, Switzerland, Spain, Thailand, and Turkey will also be exhibiting.

InterSupply, now in its third installment, will again be taking place alongside InterTabac. In fact, the hall where InterSupply is located is surrounded by the InterTabac halls, allowing for visitors to easily attend both shows as the halls are all connected.

As with InterTabac, InterSupply is also seeing a number of new exhibitors joining the show this year. The new exhibitors are from countries such as Belgium, China, Germany, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Jordan, Lithuania, Poland, Turkey, and the US.

The following are some of the new exhibitors at InterTabac and InterSupply from Asia.

China

Hainan Kenhang Havana Cigar Co.

In 1997, Hainan Kenhang Havana Cigar Co., entered an official cooperative agreement with Cuba. In the 20 years since then, the company has built a fully modern, world-class cigar production base including 2,000 acres of fields under cultivation, an integrated fertilizer management system, water management equipment, 500 acres of modern shaded greenhouses and nurseries suitable for both shaded and full sun cultivars, standardized tobacco drying rooms, temperature controlled wet classification workshops, fermentation workshops, and production workshops.

Hainan, China’s only tropical island, is located at 20 degrees north latitude, the same as Cuba, making it perfect for cultivating high quality cigar tobacco. Like Cuba, Hainan has numerous advantageous natural resources such as rich volcanic soil, a sub-tropical ocean island climate, moderate humidity, as well as plenty of sunshine and regular rain.

Hainan Kenhang Havana Cigar produces first-class cigar tobacco. The company has already come up with three unique cultivars: Hainan-1, Hainan-2, and Kenhang-1. It also produces its own cigars.

Universe Charcoal Ltd.

Being the leading and largest charcoal manufacture in China, Universe Charcoal Ltd. was established in 1994 in Henan province, China. They produce a variety of products, with shisha/hookah charcoal and BBQ charcoal their main products.

India

Godfrey Phillips India Limited

Godfrey Phillips India Limited, a flagship company of Modi Enterprises, is one of India’s largest cigarette manufacturers. They produce some of the best cigarette brands in India, including Four Square, Red & White, and Cavanders, as well as the recently launched Hawk Eye brand of premium cigarettes.

The company also exports its own cigarette brands, like Jaisalmer, Stellar and Black Jack, all over the globe. And under a license agreement with Philip Morris, they manufacture and market Marlboro cigarettes in India.

Over the past few decades, Godfrey Phillips India has expanded its product portfolio beyond cigarettes and tobacco, too. They have a strong countrywide presence in the tea market with the Tea City brand and have also made inroads into India’s highly competitive mouth freshener and confectionery segments with Pan Vilas pan masala, Pan Vilas Silver Dewz and Funda Goli candies.

Indonesia

Thailand

Tobacco Monopoly of Thailand

The Thailand Tobacco Monopoly (TTM) is a state enterprise manufacturing and distributing its own brands of cigarettes that are sold both domestically and abroad, as well as monitoring the production of tobacco leaf in Thailand. TTM closely works with tobacco farmers to improve the quality of tobacco leaves by implementing Good Agricultural Practices (GAP). It also works to improves tobacco farmers’ quality of life by providing blood test services for chemical residues, awards for outstanding farmers, conducting sample collection for residue analysis, providing education on tobacco cultivation, and continuously helping with cultivating factors e.g. seeds and fertilizers. In addition, TTM establishes the appropriate price ceiling for purchasing tobacco leaves in the country.

Currently, TTM produces 15 brands of cigarettes in total, including Royal 90 Deluxe, Samit 90, Krungthong 90, Krongthip 90, Saifon 90, Wonder, SMS, Goal, and Line.

Turkey

CAGS Tobacco

Cags Tobacco is a cigarette paper, tobacco, and tubes manufacturer located in İstanbul, Turkey. The company was founded in 1982 to export tobacco and tobacco related goods.
