TOMRA Sorting Solutions will promote its “fantastic four” tobacco sorting systems at InterSupply 2016. Experts from the company will be available at Booth 3B.A76 on Sept 16-18, 2016 at Messe Westfalenhallen, Dortmund, Germany to discuss the innovative sorting machines and the numerous benefits they deliver for processors and packers.
The four systems comprise Cerberus, Opus, Stratus, and TB5. These intelligently designed sorting machines enable processors and packers to maximize product quality, reduce waste, increase productivity, and improve throughput with high capacity sorting. In addition, they also ensure lower operating and maintenance costs.
Launched in 2015, Cerberus is the world’s first tobacco sorting system integrating string removal, metal detection, and product singulation and fragmentation all within one compact machine. The system, developed in conjunction with Italian tobacco machinery manufacturer COMAS, is a tobacco processor’s watchdog for improved quality.
Cerberus utilizes COMAS’s industry proven SRS-type string removal system, which comprises a set of scalping rollers fitted with Velcro strips to agitate the product and remove any strings. Following this, a precision-engineered set of disc-type rollers installed in cascade, combined with high speed accelerating belts, gradually increase the speed of the product. This creates an optimal monolayer spread of tobacco product, which is essential for further downstream sorting techniques.
“By attending these exhibitions, we are able to advise potential and existing customers on the various capabilities of our tobacco sorting machines and how they can benefit their businesses through higher yields and enhanced margins.
“Our latest machine, Cerberus, provides processors with a more accurate and efficient integrated metal detection and string removal system, which has never before been available. We are looking forward to being able to discuss these technologies in more detail at the exhibitions.”
