Thailand has become the first country in Asia, and 16th in the world, to roll out plain packaging.
The new packaging is drab brown color with cigarette brand names printed in a standardized font type, size, color, and location, without brand colors, or logos. Pictorial health warnings will cover the upper 85% of the front and back panels of packs, the largest in Asean.
Cigarette packs with the new packaging officially appeared in shops on September 10, but shops have until December 8 this year to phase out stocks with the older packaging.
