Former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg, founder of Bloomberg Philanthropies, announced a new initiative: STOP, short for Stopping Tobacco Organizations and Products at the 17th World Conference on Tobacco or Health.
STOP, which will have an initial US$20 million commitment, aims to help organizations develop robust monitoring systems to identify and expose industry efforts that undermine tobacco control worldwide. Some of the money will be allocated for Bloomberg Philanthropies’ small grants program.
