Action Nepal speakers have called on the government to make tobacco industries abide by a law requiring 90% graphic warnings on tobacco packaging. Despite it having been 21 months since the amendment to the country’s printing, labeling and warning directive of 2011 was approved, the government has yet to bring the new rule into implementation.
Ananda Bahadur Chand, chairperson of Action Nepal, said, “Non-implementation of the legal provisions is worrisome and the government should take necessary initiatives to put the law into effect and to cause the tobacco industries to abide by it.”
