Imperial Brands has appointed Stefan Bomhard its new c.e.o.
Bomhard joins Imperial from car dealership Inchcape, where he has been chief executive for five years.
Last October, the company board announced that Alison Cooper, who had run Imperial for nine years, would step down “once a suitable successor was found”.
Imperial said Cooper would step down with immediate effect, along with the announcement of Bomhard’s appointment on February 3, 2020, leaving two divisional directors, Dominic Brisby and Joerg Biebernick, to act as joint interim chief executives. Matthew Phillips, who had piloted the company’s new product strategy, will also be stepping down.
