British American Tobacco p.l.c. (BAT) has announced that after nearly 37 years with the company, and eight years as c.e.o., Nicandro Durante has informed the board of his intention to retire on April 1, 2019.
Jack Bowles, previously chief operating officer of BAT’s international business, will succeed Durante as c.e.o. In anticipation of this appointment, Bowles became chief executive designate on November 1, 2018, and will join the Board on January 1, 2019.
Andrew Gray, chief marketing officer, will step down from the management board at the end of December 2018 and will leave the group on March 31, 2019.
Gray will be replaced as c.m.o. by Kingsley Wheaton, currently regional director, Americas and Sub Saharan Africa (AMSSA). Wheaton will commence his new role on January 1, 2019.
Luciano Comin, currently regional head of marketing, Americas and Sub-Saharan Africa (AMSSA), has been appointed to succeed Kingsley Wheaton as regional director, AMSSA.
Comin will commence his new role on January 1, 2019, at the same time as Wheaton takes up his new role as chief marketing officer.
