City officials in San Francisco, home to JUUL Labs, have voted to ban sales of e-cigarettes, as well as banning stores from selling them and making it illegal for online stores to deliver the devices to addresses in the city.
The law is to be enforced seven months after the city’s mayor signs off the legislation, which is expected to happen within the first week of July 2019.
The first major US city to ban e-cigarettes, San Francisco’s ordinance will ban any e-cigarettes which do not have US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval. E-cigarette companies have until 2021 to submit applications for FDA approval.
