A new law is expected to be introduced by the end of this year to cover regulations on all tobacco-related products and no-smoking zones.
Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad revealed that the ministry was now drafting the new law which it hoped to complete by the end of the year before being submitted to the Attorney-General’s Chambers. The tentative name of the law is the Tobacco Control Act.
Currently, Malaysia’s Food Act controls tobacco products while the Poisons Act controls cape products containing nicotine.
