OMAN
Senior officials at Oman’s Ministry of Health announced that tobacco tax will soon be doubled.
Set to be leveled at 200%, the increase is being made as part of Oman’s recently launched National Multisectoral Plan for Prevention and Control of Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs). The plan aims to lower NCD related deaths by 25% by the year 2025.
Organized in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), the plan was launched under the patronage of HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, advisor to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.
