E-cigarettes smokers or vapers will face an AUD550 fine if seen vaping in public spaces or public transport across New South Wales, according to a new ban coming into effect this July.
Health minister Brad Hazzard, said, “Put simply, where you are not allowed to smoke cigarettes, you now cannot vape either.” This includes shopping centers, cinemas, libraries, trains, buses, public swimming pools, near children’s play equipment, sports grounds, public transport stops, and outdoor dining areas.
Cancer Council NSW welcomed the ban, which already exists in Queensland, Victoria, Tasmania, and ACT. Scott Walsberger, tobacco control manager, said, “It is great to see NSW government bringing NSW in line with other states.”
